A 40 YEAR WAVE CLIMATOLOGY OF SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND, USING MODELLED AND IN-SITU WAVE OBSERVATIONS

Climate change has the potential to impact weather patterns that drive Queensland wave climate and increase intensity of extreme events such as tropical cyclones east coast lows, due a widening tropics. This will likely result in changing climate, an erosion subsequent coastal morphological throughout subtropics. Thus, it is important examine not only modal but also climate. While number hind-cast models have been used assess global climates (Perez et al. 2017), there identified lack regional assessments. Wave climatology assessments for SEQ region, consisted several point specific undertaken predominantly using buoy data, or visual daily observations. These studies generally agree cyclone lows are dominant source high energy sea states beach SEQ. A 40 year numerical developed WaveWatch III (WW3) model version 4.08 (Durrant 2013a, 2013b).
